Get ready to feel the adrenaline rush as Speed On The Water flashes back to when they dove into the world of offshore racing with Tyler Miller, the ferocious yet gracious owner and throttleman of the M CON team. Miller is as authentic as they come, and his story is one of a true gentleman making his way up the ranks of offshore racing. Continue reading to discover the driving force for him and his team.
Ferocious on the racecourse and unfailingly kind and gracious off it, team M CON’s Tyler Miller is the kind competitor the sports needs and fans adore.
Humble yet confident, gracious and generous while fiercely competitive, Miller is a dream-representative for the sport. He’s so perfect that if you created him as a fictional character, he wouldn’t be credible. But he’s no product of anyone’s overactive imagination. Miller is as real as people get.
And for all of those and countless other reasons, he was the subject of the fourth episode of the second-year In The Lead video series produced by Speed On The Water and Scrapyard Media in 2022.
To make that segment happen, speedonthewater.com co-publisher Jason Johnson and I took a trip last May to Wathena, Kans., where we met up with our Scrapyard Media teammates Brad and Katie DiMaggio to capture principal interview footage of Miller, his wife, Lindsey, and his parents. From there we headed to MTI headquarters in Wentzville, Mo., to shoot much of our “In The Lead” with Randy Scism video, and then moved on to Lake of the Ozarks to grab more interview footage for both episodes.
It was, to put it lightly, a productive trip.
Tyler Miller and the entire M CON crew are a joyful presence in the offshore racing community.
Miller’s story is one of a real gentleman progressing through offshore racing, one who turned the loss of his older sister, Jamie, his only sibling, into a rallying point for the entire M CON racing-team family. (And make no mistake, they are a family.) Combined with his demeanor off the racecourse and his success on it with driver Myrick Coil of Performance Boat Center—the M CON team claimed national and world titles in the Super Cat ranks last season—he is the kind of hero all offshore racing fans can root for.
